Valentines Day

I have always loved Valentines Day, be it single, in a new or long term relationship I have always loved Valentines day. I have never been the type to hate it when single or feel bitter towards those spending it with the love of their lives. As cliche as it is I have always loved the day of love. For the past two Valentines days, I have been single, but that hasnt stopped me celebrating or spending it with those ladies I love.

This year was different, after my two year single slump, I have now been in a relationship for just short of a year with a person who has made me believe in love all over again and that phrase 'everything happens for a reason'.

The day started with all things heart shaped, balloons  crumpets and of course fried eggs. Food tastes so much better heart shaped.

Present wise, I chose the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and Chanel D'Ombre Eyeshadow in Emerveille as my treats and Josh surprised me with a stunning personalised cheeseboard from Not On The Highstreet which was so thoughtful.

In return, I bought him tickets to see Michael McIntyre in Leeds in December, which he loved.
As it was our first Valentines day, Josh booked in to one of our favourite Italian restaurants in Wetherby, Sant Angelos, along with my mum and her partner. We have been before and the food is just out of this world, incredible. Authentic, good Italian food, my favourite. Ive never actually been out for a meal on Valentines day believe it or not, as it very rarely falls on a weekend or I have cooked. So it was lovely to be treated to a meal.

We went out early evening for a few glasses of prosecco, before moving on to the restaurant.
opted for my usual, the Chicken liver pate to start and a King Prawn and Chile Linguine for my main. As I am still on the healthy eating kick, desert wasn't even a option however I had a tiny slab of a white chocolate and strawberry cake I bought especially for Valentines.

It was such a perfect Valentines,  spent with people I love. Its not about presents, or meals out, as nice as they are. Its about surrounding yourself with the people you love and those that make you happy everyday of the year and not just the 14th February.

How did you spend Valentines Day?

  1. Aw you look so happy! Sounds like such a lovely way to spend it. This year I was low-key (a.k.a I didn't have a valentine ha) and watched love actually. Still a great valentines though. Holly x http://thechroniclesofholly.blogspot.com/
