Slimbox by Birchbox February 2015

Happy Saturdays ladies!

From the 2nd February (Monday) Birchbox will be launching a new, slimmer Birchbox aptly named Slimbox.

The new Slimbox will allow subscribers to opt in for a box that is slim enough to fit through a standard sized post box therefore making the service more efficient than before, as you wont have to wait in for deliveries or have lengthy trips to the sorting office.

The Slimbox will conain the same value samples as the classic Birchbox but at 3.5cm high, it is much more compact making delivery more simple. New subscribers can choose if they would prefer the slimbox or the classic birchbox and existing subscribers can switch from February.

I opened it up and was pleasantly surprised with this months contents. I love a mix of lifestyle, hair, body and make up and that is what I received.
T London - Darjeeling Hand & Body Lotion
This is a Birchbox exclusive which retails for £6.50. It claims to be a soothing lotion that is jam packed with nourishing jojoba and aloe oils. I used this last night as a body cream and it is quite light and thin in consistancy and blends quite quickly into the skin. I love the scent too which is always a bonus! Perfect for Travel!

theBalm Cosmetics - Cindy-Lou Manizer
This is a small eyeshadow shaped shimmery pink shade that adds a glow to wherever needed, so can be dusted across cheekbones, eyelids or anywhere you want a glow. To me it looks like the perfect everyday shade, then can be dusted on the eyelid and worn alone.

Cynthia Rowley Beauty - Eyeliner in black
Another Birchbox exclusive, this eyeliner looks creamy and from first glance reminds me of the Urban Decay eyeliners. Theres not much more that has to be said about a black eyeliner really, always nice to have and worn by most! I will definitely get some use out of this one!

Liz Earle Beauty - Botanical Shine Shampoo
My eyes lit up when I saw this little beauty in the box. I love everything Liz Earle, nothing has ever let me down, and the hair products included. I love these little travel sized products, again perfect for the gym or a weekend away. It contains Vitamin E, fruit extracts and shea butter to boost shine.

Caudalie - Vinoperfect radiance serum 10ml
I have tried quite a few Caudalie products, mainly from beauty boxes and I find that they are always handy for having around, especially if you are low or run out of favourite skin care products. Im looking forward to giving this serum a go as it is oil free and radiance boosting.

The Chia Co - Oats and Chia
This is a little added extra to this month box and one I am excited to try. Chia seeds have always interested me so I am looking forward to giving this creamy blend of wholegrain oats, chia, fruit and virgin coconut oil a go. All you do is add water, stir and enjoy. Perfect for cold mornings at work!

Overall, with all 6 products this months box retails for around £40 as a full size 30ml Caudalie radiance serum retails for £45 and the Liz Earle shampoo is £5.75 for a sample size. All in all im impressed. Beauty boxes still excite me like a kid at Christmas, even after all these years I have never fallen out of love with them. The star product for me this month has to be the Liz Earle Shampoo as it is a tried and tested product and I know I love it.

I am loving the Slimline version of the classic Birchbox and think its a wonderful concept. Birchbox costs £10 per month, for whichever box you choose and £2.95 for postage and packaging.

George at Asda: Houndstooth Print Dress

Happy Thursday lovelies! The weekend is in sight!

As i was scoping the shelves of my local Asda living recently (predominantly for homeware i must admit!) this beautiful houndstooth dress caught my eye. I have a houndstooth print top that i wear religiously and thought this would look perfect for both work, or play with tights and boots to dress it up a little. I love the 3/4 length sleeves too! At £12, I am quite unsure why i still don't own this and have it living in my wardrobe. I definitely need to go back and make a purchase, for that price it would be rude not to.
I put together shoes and accessories based around the dress that i thought would look perfect with one another.

Black suede boots are something that I am currently living in, usually with a small chunky heel. They go perfectly with jeans, trousers and tights. I love the gold detailing, leather contrast and tassel on these black suede ankle boots, as well as the chunky, but low heel. For £20 I also thought these were quite a steel!

George do quite possibly my most favourite tights, which are the 150 denier ones as they are chunky and thick and for £1.50 a pack, they definitely dont break the bank.

To finish off, I chose this leather look jacket with of course, gold detailing that matches the boots wonderfully. I love the ribbed detail on the sleeves, I think it makes it look much more expensive than the £35 price tag.

Throw on this gold link necklace for £8, to finish the outfit off nicely. I think this is the perfect outfit that can be dressed down for the day with flats or plain ankle boots, and can be jazzed up ever so slightly for an evening look.

I need this dress in my life. Enough said! I'm making it my aim to be mine before the weekend is over!

Beauty Favourites 2014

Happy Monday!

I thought i would do a make up round up for the whole of 2014 as i thought i hadnt blogged that much or showed you many favourites in that time. For 2015, I would like to get back on board with the whole favourites as they are one of my favourite posts to read.

Back to my faves, some of these products are pretty much obvious, they are make up items I have been using for years that I have raved about probably way too much, but theyre my favourites so worth the hype surely? Most of these products are repurchases and the ones that arent, theyre definitely things that i would buy over and over and over again. Got it? Good.
My all time favourite foundation to the point i dont even see the need to try or buy another foundation ever again, extreme? maybe! But its the NARS Sheer Glow foundation. Ive tried quite a few shades in this foundation, so for in the winter when I am pale or slightly darker for the Summer months. I just love it. Nothing compares in my opinion. I have done a full review before but in short: great coverage, dewy finish, long lasting. Just perfect. At £31 its around average for a higher end foundation and a price that I don't mind paying.
This is just a teeny tiny version but I have gone through countless tubes of this, I even pinched this one off my mum (shh!) It feels so soft and silky on the skin and seems to sink in to any imperfections or lines which as i'm approaching 26, I love. Foundation sits on top beautifully and seems to last just that little bit longer when this stuff is around.
Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
It took me a long time to purchase this. Like a seriously long time, the second one was approaching release by the time my indecisive mind had decided this needed to be purchased. The reason it took so long? For years and years I absolutely despised hated matte shades. I was a glitter girl through and through and for me the dullness of a matte shade just bored me. Until i purchased this palette. Other than the second version of this palette, there's nothing else that i now reach for. All the shades are wearable and complement each other and theres even a champagne, shimmer shade that makes a wonderful highlight.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural
Another obvious choice? Probably. All i can say is when it comes to finishing powder, I must be keeping MAC in business with the amount of times I have repurchased this. I love the new packaging that comes in a handy, more sturdy compact with the addition of a mirror (even if they have hiked the price up slightly!) Adds coverage and mattes skin leaving it looking less shiny.
Ever since discovering red lipstick, I had that age old problem that Im sure most girls have experienced, what on earth do i slap on my cheeks? The answer to this, for me anymore is lots of bronzing and a glowy cheek. I discovered this Sleek MakeUP Glo highlighter unloved at the back of my collection and it was love at first brush stroke. Its super super shimmery but gives a gorgeous, golden glow to the cheek.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown
This is my most recent purchase that has made its way into my yearly favourites but my god its a good 'un. I read so many rave reviews about this product that for £12 I just knew that i had to give it a go for myself. I love my trusty Benefit Browzings, I still do but I still like to dabble in other products, especially when it comes to my brows, every now and again. This stuff is just genius. If i had to describe it to you it is like both the powder and the wax of browzings but combined. It is soft like wax but with an amazing colour pay off and just works through brows beautifully.
NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette
I have dedicated a whole blog post to this product but of course it made my favourites. I have not put it down since I bought it. From a highlight, to pretty pink and coral cheek shades, to bronzer. This kit has everything all in a handy travel size set (and has made me fall in love with deep throat all over again - the blush obviously!)
I have used a fair few mascaras this year and commendations go to the Bourjois Volume 1 second mascara which is also incredible, but i always resort back to this and remember why i love it. It is pure black and makes my lashes look wow without looking clumpy.

So thats it for this year. What are your beauty or make up favourites? Do we have any of the same?
