Hi lovelies,
A bit of a hair topic today! I must admit, I have a bit of a hairdresser phobia as i have always pined for luscious long locks and really don't want my hair chopping at all no matter how much it is in need of a good cut! My hair seems to get to a certain length, just above my bust and then stops! I always fear that going for your hair cut is make or break and that they may take a little off and you will love it or they may take too much off and you will instantly hate it!
Current length of my hair |
I know they say that you should have your haircut every 6 weeks but shamefully (and please dont judge, although i wouldnt blame you if you did!) I actually haven't had my hair cut for well over a year now (Maybe even verging on to a year and a half!) and even then it was just a teensy ends trim that i did myself, purely because i am yet to find a hairdresser that i trust 100%! The ends of my hair and dry and damaged and no matter how many hair masks or oils i use, i know that the split ends are hiding underneath. Also, because i have a accidental ombre going on at the minute as im trying to grow my previous colour out, the ends are obviously lighter which instantly highlights just how in need of a cut i am!
I did have an amazing hairdresser that i had from around 16 to 21 but she left to teach students at college, yes she was that good! Since then i have been in a bit of a rut and yet to find, or really even give another hair salon a go.

I have been toying with the idea of finding a hairdressers in London maybe one that is owned by a professional hairdresser? I do love fancy and dont mind paying a bit extra for a good service! But i am yet to decide on a place! Does anyone have any recommendations? I would be highly grateful! One that uses salon software and doesn't jot down your appointment on a bit of paper!
So, are you a salon lover or hater? I think for me i just havent found the perfect one! I love been pampered but still want long, hair while im at it! How often do you visit the hair salon?
xx

I go around every 3 months, but I asked for a trim last time and she cut all my hair off and im super depressed now waiting for it to grow! x
ReplyDeleteOMG SAME! I went to have my side fringe cut- and they cut it way too short and it looks stupid - im currently pinning it back now everyday intil it grows...sobs!
DeleteI don't know anyone who goes every six weeks, personally I just go when I'm bored with my current style, or I've seriously fried the ends with heat styling and bleaching. I know what you mean about trust, I recently gave up on my usual hairdressers because they seemed to have gotten bored with my hair, despite asking for something different, they seemed to have this haircut default setting and stuck with it. D:
ReplyDeleteI'm the same, I rarely go to the hairdressers! I don't think it's worth the money as I'm never totally happy with it xx
ReplyDeleteI go to the hair dressers every 8/9/10 weeks, my hair is so thin it needs a trim. I go to Rush in East Croydon, people have had mixed reactions (like any chain) but i love it. Although i hate the awkward process of getting my hair cut (i always gigle when they massage my head) i am SO FIRM with my hairdresser, poor girl. I have stuck with the same hairdressers for the past two years, but before that i chopped and changed haidressers at the same salon to find her. She is my ages and understands that wben i want ONE CM chopped off she understands, but she will turn around and tell me straight.
ReplyDeleteDont be nervous, stand your ground, tell them exactly. Shame there isnt a website with hairdresser reviews! xxx
I'm scared of hair dressers once again. Two years ago I got the worst hair cut ever and last thursday Toni&Guy done shit job on my hair. You can read more about it here: http://burningblonde.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/how-toni-ruined-my-hair.html#comment-form
ReplyDeleteIt so difficult to find someone good, if you can try to go for male hairdresser as they do hair with passion. xo
The last time I was at a hairdresser was 3 and a half years ago, ever since I just cut my own because I never liked what happened with my hair! xx
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with the hairdressers. I love my hairdresser and the salon I go to, the staff are all really friendly, and my beutitians that I go to are joined onto the salon, which is handy. However, they have changed their dye and currently , my hair is pretty red. It used to get done a warm mahogany shade so there was a slight tinge of red but they changed their brand, and now it looks so...red! Haha. Also the past couple of times I have been, no matter how much I say I want off (a trim does me really, I like my hair long!), it ends up the same length, she always cuts it up to just below my collar bone/above my boobs when I didn't want it that short. Aaaah, and they wonder why I only go twice a year haha. Although, I'm starting to find a few grey hairs so it could be more frequent :( xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm the same as you - it's creeping up toward 7 months since I last had a proper haircut because I haven't found a hairdresser I trust (and the last one just whatever she darn well felt like, rather than what I asked for!)
ReplyDeleteI would love to find a nice professional hairdresser in my area - even if it means paying a bit more - and go regularly!

I don't think I've been to a hair dresser in a few years. I always trim my own hair, just a teeny tiny bit once a month. It's an unnoticeable difference in length but it keeps my hair looking really healthy. :) x
ReplyDeleteMy Hairdresser colours my hair the perfect shade of blonde every time. Will make my layers feathery and gorgeous but my fringe? No she can never do that right! Also i come out looking like a mushroom head. I feel like asking her would she leave the house with hair dried like that - but she always insists it looks gorgeous. I think with hairdressers you are always left compromising. I went somewhere else who cut my fringe to perfection but my hair was left a mucky orangy blonde colour. I don't think any hairdressers get it 100% right haha

i HATE hairdressers, ive had bad experiences so they make me nervous. i use one in north London in North Finchley, it's kind of out of the way but i'll never go anywhere else now! It's a Toni and guy, i get cut my a girl called Tiffany, and coloured by Sylvia if your interested. They are both lovely and do my hair perfectly the way i want it :) x
ReplyDeleteI've had exactly the same fear for months now and I've been putting it off forever. I'm dying for an appointment at Percy & Reed in London and I've promised myself that I will find the time to go in the New Year. Because I'm desperate for a haircut I asked on twitter yesterday if anyone had any recommendations. A couple of people came back with RUSH salons. Another piece of advice I was given was to hang around outside the salon for a little while (trying not to look creepy) and see how the clients hair looks as they come out. Chances are if it looks good you'll like what they do! Lx
ReplyDeleteThere are hairdressers that act like that but for the hairdressers melbourne they always treat clients very well, I deal with them for over a year now and until now I like it.
ReplyDeleteI was in the exact same position. Think I've just found a good option at Sketch Hair in Leeds though. They just took a tiny bit off the ends, in fact I probably wanted them to take more!

I cut my own hair and it needs to be fixed but I am thinking of just growing it out and letting my mistakes grow into each other. Honestly, if I get told whoever cut my hair last didn't do a good job, I just roll my eyes, bc half the time it is them who cut it!

I'm the same, I can't trust any hairdressers! Each time I go, they manage to disappoint me! I think the longest I've gone without a cut is about 9 months, so don't feel too bad, haha xxx
ReplyDeleteI personally HATE the hairdressers, but one hairdressers I do love is called The Salon Experience in Sidcup. They're great there and it's so relaxed :)
ReplyDeleteIt feels awe-inspiring to read such informative and distinctive articles on your websites.
